Gilbert and Syd arrived in November 2010 to take up residence in their newly built stable at Thornley House.

They have been re-homed here from Edinburgh with the assistance of the Donkey Sanctuary at Dumfries.

Syd is a real character. He wants to be in on everything that's happening.

He gives his carers a headache - it took him just a few days to work out how to operate the bolt on his stable door and escape into the field!

Gilbert is the quieter donkey. He was a little spooked at first over the move, but he's now settling in nicely.

He enjoys attention when Syd is not jealously pushing to the front!
