Thornley House Bed & Breakfast
Access Statement.
Introduction
I aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in my home-based, 3 bed-roomed Bed and Breakfast. The following statement is a summary of my provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call me and I will endeavour to help.
Pre-arrival
The nearest bus stop is approximately 1 mile away. There is a taxi firm based in Allendale or if pre-arranged a lift can be organised.
Arrival & Parking Facilities
I am down a private drive which leads onto a large, even gravelled area with ample parking. Assistance with luggage is always available to guests. As we are Pets Welcome we provide feeding and water bowls if required.
Main Entrance & Reception
There is a 7cm step onto a covered porch and a 15cm step through the front door which is 87cm wide. The hallway is Amtico flooring and rugs. The entrance hall is 3m x 2m with a table for information and a bell for assistance. Pen and paper are available here.
Public Areas - General (internal)
The stairs are carpeted and the upstairs passage is Amtico flooring and rugs. The stairs has a bannister on the right hand side. The main stairs has 2 steps then a turn of 4 steps and then 9 steps to the top of the staircase.
Public Areas - WC
There is no downstairs WC.
Dining Room
There are no steps into the dining room. Chairs can be moved on request. There is 1 large table to cater for all guests with ample space at either end, but restrictions at the side. There is an under-space of 76cm. Full waitress service is available on request.
Laundry
Drying facilities can be provided on request.
Bedrooms
All 3 bedrooms are on the first floor. Televisions have remote. The double bedroom with the private bathroom has Amtico flooring, the other 2 have short pile carpet. There is a double ensuite, a twin ensuite, with shower cubicle and WC in the room and a bedroom with private bathroom which can be either a double or twin.
Bathroom Showers And WC
The private bathroom has a basin with clear under space, a step in of 53cm into the bath and a small separate WC with no wheelchair access. Both bathroom and WC has Amtico flooring. The double ensuite has a basin with clear under space and a step in of 53cm into the bath. There is carpet on this floor. The twin ensuite has a separate shower cubicle and toilet in the room. There is a step in of 37cm into the shower cubicle and no wheelchair access for the toilet. There is lino on the toilet floor.
Attractions
We are situated in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Of The North Pennines. Hadrians Wall and Beamish Museum and many National Trust sites are within a short journey of us.
Grounds And Gardens
The gardens are on the level and are there for the guests to fully enjoy. There are plenty seats where you can take in the Feline influence of this interesting garden. Guests may also go through the field to the wood where the Cat Cemetery is sited.
Additional Information
We are registered as Pets Welcome. Mobile phone reception is unattainable on some networks. We are a No Smoking B&B. Items can be stored on request. Please let us know of any special requirements at time of booking.
